CABS would like to introduce Michelle Duong as the Creative Director on the CABS Marketing Team!

Michelle grew up in Oakville, ON, but currently resides in Brampton while working in Toronto. During the school year, Michelle lives in Guelph as she is a 3rd year Marketing Management student at the University of Guelph. Michelle has 2 years of BSA experience and plans to extend this experience.

She started with DECA U Guelph, representing the organization as the First Year Recruitment Coordinator, Director of Design, and briefly the Director of Marketing prior to transitioning into her current role on the Board of the Directors for DECA Ontario as Vice President, Media! She is also apart of the University of Guelph Marketing Society (UGMS), previously as the Graphic Designer and is currently the Apparel Manager.

In five years, Michelle hopes to be doing something completely unrelated to what she is doing right now. She doesn’t want to plan as she knows there are new opportunities are always arising when meeting new people. She hopes to learn new skills and develop new interests that will steer her in a different direction because there is so much out there to learn and do.

What would be your top three countries to travel to if money and time were not a factor?
Amsterdam, Thailand and Hong Kong

What motivates you to get out of bed every morning?
My answer is quite simple: I have to or else I will be late for work. I don’t believe that we need to have some sort of deep or grand motivation or goal to get us out of bed, it’s simply that we have to do the things we need to do because if we don’t do then, who is?

If you had to switch to a field of study other than business, what would you choose, and why?
If I had the opportunity switch to a field of study other than business, I would choose either Design or Computer Science. Design because I have always wanted to work in editorial Computer Science because everything nowadays revolves around technology entrepreneurism. I feel that people computer science majors who want to create a tech start-up have the drive and momentum and the ability to understand consumer needs to successfully target and market their product whereas it would be more difficult for me to learn everything that they do from coding to developing.
