FOUNDING YEARS

Before the creation of CABS, its precursor the Canadian Business Student Council (CBSC) existed from the early 1990’s,  reflecting the same spirit of camaraderie among business student leaders across Canada.

During its existence, member schools worked to create the first Roundtable, Canadian Commerce Games, ECLR, WCLR and other conferences, which have all been absorbed by CABS since then.

The CBSC was dissolved in 2007 to reform with a unified national strategy the following year, as The Canadian Association of Business Students.

CABS INCORPORATION

At the first CABS-owned Roundtable conference, hosted by the University of Windsor, the first official elections for the CABS management team were held. Their featured milestones include the first organizational structure, internal-tool building as well as the first bid processes. As elected to, the management team under the Hein administration served two full consecutive years.

Zac was privileged to be President during AFSA's first year as a CABS member and loved the opportunity to meet students like him from across the country. It is from that experience that he is happy to be joining The Canadian Association of Business Students as Vice President, Corporate Relations and Vice President, External Relations, to continue to ensure students like him get the same great opportunities in future years!

Zac has a great deal of experience in student groups, not to mention coop experiences too. He carries a great deal of technical knowledge in accounting and finance, his double major, as well as a substantial breadth of knowledge in economics and strategy. The former was his minor, the latter he regularly TA's. With experience in the public practice and industry sectors, Zac does not shy away from staying in top shape during his busiest of times balancing his work and class schedules. An avid ball hockey player, Zac ran as many as three accounting and finance intramural teams per term during his undergrad studies and helped to develop the quality of all accounting and finance students with interest in the sport. This past year he has managed the daily operations of the Waterloo Competitive Ball Hockey Club, which, through Zac's work, will be a founding member of the first Ontario university ball hockey circuit this upcoming school year.

Zac has completed and received his Bachelor of Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Waterloo and is in the process of completing his Masters of Accounting degree, also from the University of Waterloo. Zac is excited to be moving to New York this upcoming winter busy season, where he will begin working full time with the largest audit and assurances firm in the Manhattan area. As an aspiring CPA, CA, & CPA (NY), & CFA, he naturally loves keeping up with the activity in global capital markets on a regular basis.
